Breast AugmentationFuller, More Voluptuous Breasts
Small, asymmetrical or poorly defined breasts can impact the balance of your body’s proportions, not to mention your self-confidence. If you don’t completely love the appearance of your bust, breast augmentation can help. At my Sacramento plastic surgery practice, I help women of all ages increase the size of their breasts, enhance their cleavage, and reshape undefined breasts. I understand that every woman is different and so are their needs and goals for breast augmentation. For this reason, I employ an individualized approach when it comes to breast augmentation. We will work together, you and I, to come up with a treatment plan made just for you, so you can trust that your results will be stunning yet natural-looking.
Are You a Candidate for Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation may be a good option for you if you have naturally small breasts or breasts that have lost shape and volume due to changes in weight, pregnancy, nursing or the natural aging process. The procedure may also be a good choice if you believe that your breasts are disproportionate to the rest of your body. By adding volume where it looks best with implants, breast augmentation can create a more flattering or curvaceous body shape.
The most satisfied breast augmentation patients are those who do their homework and are well informed about their breast implant choices. There are so many variables to discuss! Before for your surgery, you and I will meet to talk about your options. I will also take precise measurements of your breasts and chest to determine the most appropriate size based on your chest, but also on the proportions of your whole body. We will discuss your aesthetic concerns, lifestyle goals, anatomy and other factors that influence your ideal breasts. You will also have the opportunity to “try on” different implant sizes using our implant sizing kit.
Your Breast Implant Options
Breast implants are filled with either a saline saltwater solution or silicone gel. Some women prefer silicone implants because they more closely resemble the look and feel of natural breast tissue. But other women like the peace of mind that saline implants offer. If a saline implant ruptures or leaks, it deflates immediately. On the other hand, because silicone implants mostly retain their shape in case of a leak or rupture, problems are harder to detect. These are just some examples of the information you will need to consider when selecting your breast implants. Other factors we will discuss during your consultation include the shape, texture and placement of your breast implants.
Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia, as an outpatient procedure. First, I will create incisions to place the implants. There are several incision techniques that I can use. But regardless of the technique, I am careful to create the incisions in order to minimize scarring.
If you have loose, excess skin and breast sagging is a concern for you, I may recommend combining breast augmentation with a breast lift. During breast lift, I can remove excess skin and elevate the breasts to a higher position on the chest wall for a more youthful and attractive look. Needless to say, in order to remove the excess skin and raise the breast, we would need more than just a tiny incision. Fortunately, they almost always heal really nicely and don’t leave unsightly scars. Some patients come to see me asking for just bigger implants in order to create the illusion of a lift — time is not kind to that option. If a woman already has loose skin and sagging breasts, then just adding an implant usually will cause further sagging. Either way, whether it’s just an implant or an implant with a lift, once I am done making all of the necessary modifications I will close the incisions using sutures and place a compression bra on top to support the breast tissues as they heal.
There is nothing more satisfying to me than helping my patients look and feel confident. If you are thinking about breast augmentation, we should talk so we can figure out together what options work best for you. Feel free to contact my Sacramento practice and schedule an appointment today.
